Master of Arts in Counseling - Prairie View University This year marks my twentieth year as an educator, fifteen of those years were in Aldine ISD. Our primary purpose at the Ninth Grade Center is to help students and their families transition from middle school to high school. I love watching live shows, relaxing with family and singing. Favorite TV show: Grey's Anatomy. I've been married for 15 years and I have three wonderful daughters.  "...and the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Phil 4:7)."

Cynthia Knowles is the newest member of our counseling team here at Davis 9.  Mrs. Knowles is a part of the original staff that opened Davis 9th Grade School in 2013. She worked as the Davis 9 Math Skills Specialist from 2013 to 2018.  She has worked in Aldine ISD for 18 years, and she has been an educator for 23 years.  Mrs. Knowles is excited about joining the Davis 9 counseling team, and she is thankful for the opportunity to continue to serve the Davis 9 community in her new position as a school counselor.

Davis Ninth Grade School (D9)

Vision: Academic success, career awareness, personal and social development for all students.

Mission: To support the school community by developing and incorporating a wide-ranging guidance program that will aid all students’ academic, career and personal/social growth; creating a responsible, career-minded, life-long learner.    


We believe ALL students are valuable and teachable.

We believe that if students are provided with appropriate instruction, safe and equitable learning environments that ALL students can reach their fullest potential.

We believe that ALL students should have equal access to student services provided by AISD/Davis 9th.

We believe in the collaboration between parent, student, and counselor/school staff member.

We believe that as professional school counselors, we must abide by the ethical guidelines and mandates of the Texas and American School Counselors Associations.

The four components of our comprehensive developmental guidance program are:

  1. Guidance Curriculum:

Includes providing guidance activities in a systematic way to all students, usually through classroom meetings in the areas of: 

 Self-knowledge and acceptance

 Interpersonal and communication skills/appreciation of diversity

 Responsible behavior/personal safety and survival skills

 Conflict resolution

 Decision making/problem solving

 Motivation to achieve

 Goal setting and career planning

  1. Responsive Services:

Includes providing counseling to address the immediate needs of students, usually through individual or group counseling.

  1. Individual Planning:

Includes assisting students in understanding and monitoring their own development in areas of education, career, and personal/social, usually through the development of academic and career plans. 

  1. System Support:

Includes providing program management and evaluation, staff, and parent support activities and services, and community liaison. _______________________________________________________
